New Cali-Mex Taqueria Opened on Granville Road, TST

Working from an office in a neighbourhood where there are practically zero food options for lunch (slight exaggeration, but wtv) makes me more than a little aggravated whenever the clock strikes 1pm every day. Thankfully, if I feel like indulging a little, TST is only a short cab ride away from the office and offers a sweet respite - this time, in the form of newly opened Cali Mex Taqueria on Granville Road. This definitely isn't your average Cali Mex, with a bright, re-vamped interior space reminiscent of sunny California and cold beers on tap in each booth. The menu was expansive, featuring dishes from Mexican-style grilled steaks to your typical Mexican street food classics. All were prepared on the spot, and despite the chain leaning more towards the 'fast food' category, the ingredients all tasted fresh, flavourful and delicious.

We were excited about the automated beer tap, which is able to record how much you pour and charges you via a magnetic card - and we loved the Hoegaarden Rose!

Loved the dramatic presentation of this cucumber lime soda drink. It was nice and refreshing, not too sweet either.

One of the best grilled chicken quesadillas I've had yet! And I've just come back from a Mexican food trip in New York so that's really saying somethin'. The guac was fresh and delicious, and the tortilla nice, crisp and still hot. Pic of the filling below:

A half quesadilla was more than enough as the portions are rather large, and each half is priced at HK$78.

As expected with any bowl of Nachos (HK$118), it was massive. It's topped with avocado, tomato, onion, jalapeno, cheddar and minced meat (hidden inside).

This is one of the many rice bowls on offer on the lunch menu, and I think this was the one with seafood. Don't be fooled by the presentation and colours - the dish actually tasted amazing, with super flaky & tender chunks of cod on rice with tomato salsa and guac.

The rose that we couldn't stop drinking! Didn't even know beer came like this - now I know what I'll be drinking for Oktoberfest. As mentioned earlier, this new shop features two beer taps per table, and is activated by a special card provided by the restaurant. It'll measure exactly how much goes into your cup, and charges the card so you can pay at the end.
