My favourite burger restaurant is at it again! This time, they've rolled out some bomb new promotions that are perfect for alleviating much of the misery that comes with Hong Kong's brutal summers. And yes, I'm aware it's currently officially spring but HK tends to skip the fun seasons and goes straight to the nasty. So 3 new things going on at B&L at the moment:
1. Soft Shell Crab Sandwich HK$118 (officially launches on MAY 16-JULY10)
2. New Seasonal Salads
-Green Peas Salad HK$98 (launches May 16)
-Red Salad HK$88 (launched)
3. Wine Program - Drink More for Less (launched)

No experience at Beef & Liberty is complete without trying their bar snacks - including those Mac N Cheese Balls (plenty of flavour, not bland like most) with a pesto dip, Vegetable Crudite (super fresh and crunchy with a nice aioli dip), Padron Peppers (reminded me a lot of Spain with the big salt flakes, but B&L adds crunchy garlic bits for a little extra zing), and my favourite, PORK CRACKLING.
On to the new promotions! This Red Salad was a refreshing combo of beetroot and kale, as well as red endive, pomegranate, and a sherry vinegar dressing. Perfect for summer, and a nice complement to the fried food!
This is the new Soft Shell Crab Sandwich, the brainchild of B&L Group Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky (previously Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong) and the first fish sandwich by him. It was absolutely delicious, made with fennel & dill slaw, spring onion, sriracha mayo (same as the dip used for the sweet potato fries), Brooklyn Beer & Vodka battered soft shell crab and a grilled lime to squeeze over to cut through the fat. The sandwich will be available starting May 16 - July 10 for a limited time only, so I suggest you to try this once it's out - because who knows when you'll be able to have it next?! Even better, pair it with a nice bottle of wine, made easy thanks to the newly launched wine program.
Here's the thing about the wine you're drinking at most restaurants: they're totally overpriced, and we all know it. The average bottle markup is 3-4x the wholesale price, and it's hard to distinguish quality wines because of it. Beef & Liberty has just broken the trend of ridiculous restaurant mark-ups by introducing a new program that is 100% transparent about how they price their wines. ALL wine bottles are marked up by only +$180HKD from their wholesale prices, allowing diners to enjoy quality wines for much, much less. Enjoy!
