Taking over Casa Lisboa's previous setting on the 8th floor of LKF Tower, Fang Fang is the newest restaurant concept to take Central by storm. Headed by Chef Kent Lee, the former Executive Chef of Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant group Hakkasan, Fang Fang introduces a menu of modern Asian-inspired dishes and innovative cocktails by Bar Manager Gagan Gurung (previously Zuma Hong Kong). My brother and I experienced the reduced trial menu last night, and while there were still a few adjustments to be made here and there, we were overall impressed by the entire experience and the dishes. Fang Fang is currently soft open for friends and family, and will officially open to the public later this month. Stay tuned!
The view of the glitzy bar as you enter Fang Fang, which is helmed by Bar Manager Gagan Gurung, the former nightlife driving force at Zuma Hong Kong. On top of the cocktails on offer, discerning drinkers will love the long list of premium wines, sakes and rare whiskies from around the world.
Pictured are the Goji Berry (front) and Kimchi Vodka (back) cocktails that we ordered after settling into our seats at the sleek marble table. They were on the stronger side, and we enjoyed both!
Kurobuta Pork Belly skewer with a kimchi sauce. Crispy sear, juicy meat, and I liked the unique spicy kick from the kimchi sauce.
Avocado Crab Roll - the western abomination of traditional sushi that you just can't help but love. It's stuffed with king crab and avocado, after all! ;)
Really enjoyed this Almond Curry Prawns main dish. The prawns were juicy, perfectly cooked and paired well with the nutty yellow curry. Loved this with the Basmati Rice and Gailan below.
The main that was recommended to us were these richly flavoured Beef Short Ribs, served with the bone. Super tender and tasty meat. The portion is quite massive, so I would order this with a group.
We ordered the garlic wok-fried gai lan as one of our sides (my fave Chinese veggie!). It was crunchy, flavourful and complemented the main dishes well.
Another nice side dish of Basmati Rice prepared as fried rice with coriander and green beans.
Loved the use of dark chocolate in this Chocolate Fondant dessert, but hoping for a more dramatic ooze the next time I try it.
