Sometimes, there's nothing that hits the spot quite like Mexican comfort food. Nestled in a cosy little street just off of Queen's Road, Little Burro is the perfect stop for hearty, no-bullshit Mexican food prepared quickly and efficiently on the spot. The menu is straightforward, featuring all the American-Mexican classics like hard and soft shell tacos, burritos and "skinny" burritos, fresh guacamole & tortilla chips, salad bowls, rice bowls, and quesadillas - and all are customisable to your liking. Oh, and just as a word of caution, there's nothing "little" about Little Burro portions. Get ready to feast a la American style, and then some. Definitely a Saturday afternoon well spent.
These were our favourite - still hot from the grill, the Barbacoa Beef Quesadillas with borracho beans with bacon, corn green chilli, hot sauce and sour cream (HK$98). I'm pretty sure the beef + borracho bean pairing (combined with the fact that we hadn't eaten yet that day) is what made these quesadillas so. damn. good.
The rice bowl (HK$78), with smoky chipotle chicken, black beans, cilantro lime rice, cheddar, sour cream and corn green chilli. And a massive dollop of extra homemade guac (+HK$25), of course. There were so many layers of toppings before I could even reach the rice, so I'd definitely request extra for next time. I honestly would be so content just eating a bowl of the tasty cilantro-lime rice on its own (anyone who knows me well knows of my super Asian obsession with rice).
Yass.
We opted for soft-shell fish tacos with Mexican-spiced fish fillets, mango salsa, corn green chilli, sour cream and cheddar (HK$78 for 2). The main reason I don't tend to go for tacos in general is because of the mess, and a couple embarrassing experiences from the past. But lo and behold, the Little Burro tacos are double-layered - a godsend for naturally messy food like this.
