Recently, I've had quite a few friends and colleagues coming to me for recs on where to eat out in Hong Kong - namely for brunch. And I tell them Mercato by Jean-Georges every time.
My all-time favourite restaurant for simple and consistently delicious Italian fare made with market-fresh produce, Mercato by Jean-Georges is a great choice not just for brunch but for the a la carte specials at dinner. But I'll focus on the brunch for this post. I went back one weekend to check out the new menu by chef Tony Burd, this time out on the terrace. We picked out a few new dishes to try like the Sausage Pizza & Crispy Chicken Sandwich, but also had to go for the Omelette with Fontina Cheese, chives, spinach and fresh cherry tomato salad. With a side of crispy Applewood smoked bacon, of course.
Also, it's not pictured below, but do not forget to order the Cinnamon Sticky Buns with Cream Cheese Frosting and Buttermilk Pancakes - which are exclusive to the brunch menu and available only on weekends! Happy brunching xx
Crispy chicken sandwich with an oozing fried egg, yuzu pickles, and chili pepper aioli.
Omelette with Cheese Fontina, Spinach and Herbs. So delicious.
Sunny side up egg, house-made sausage pizza, three cheese and pickled chilies. Made in Mercato's awesome wood-fired style.
