Veuve Clicquot is always surprising us with new ways to revolutionise the timeless art of champagne-drinking, and their new Happy Hour taking the city by storm is no exception. Playfully dubbed “Yellow Hour”, this new happy hour is available at a ton of restaurants around Hong Kong and has entered its second quarter today. While the first quarter was all about pairing champagne with popcorn, now it’s all about the fries (yas). I was able to preview French Fry dishes paired with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label by the glass at three different restaurants (out of 26): FoFo by El Willy, Bungalow & KOKO. Check out my thoughts of the dishes as below:

Sweet potato fries with truffle mayo and manchego cheese w/ glass (HK$148)
FoFo's Chef Alex Fargas kicked us off with skinny sweet potato fries smothered in a truffle mayo and manchego cheese mixture, with what appeared to be thick slices of preserved black truffle. I couldn't have just one!

Bungalow's chips were of the thicker, meatier variety with fluffy potato encased within a crunchy hand-battered crust. Think I overate here, because I suddenly got full way too fast. Would have to say this was my favourite of the three we tried.
Sweet potato fries and harissa mayonnaise or yuzu mayonnaise w/ glass (HK$188)
KOKO's Japanese-inspired fries were a lot more subdued in flavour, and tasted lighter (if at all possible considering they are deep-fried chunks of potato!). I preferred the harissa mayonnaise over the yuzu, as the harissa contained a lot more punchy flavours that paired nicely with a bubbling glass of VC.
